Khinalug or Xinaliq in Azerbaijani is an ancient village located high in Greater Caucasus mountains, the highest, most remote and isolated village in Azerbaijan. It is one of the oldest inhabited places in the world with a history over 5000 years and own language - Khinalug. The majority of people are herders. Sheep, cows and goats make their way to the pastures in the morning, only to return by evening. Xinaliq is called "An island in the mountains" or as some native people say that this land is linked to Noah, having retained almost all of their ancient lifestyle they consider themselves to be "The Grandchildren of Noah"
